Weather and seasons
You can see weather of the next three days from Internet or from TV-news. Finland has four seasons in a year: summer, autumn, winter and spring.
Summer usually starts around May, and lasts to first days of September. In June and July you can see sun for almost 19 hours in a day, and in Lapland sun doesn’t really go down at all in summer.
End of September you may notice that weather is starting to get colder and that sun isn’t up as long as in summer. Autumn is still really beautiful time in Finland, and one of the best times to visit Helsinki.
Winter starts between November and December, and when the first snow hits the ground, the city will look like a view from postcard. End of January is probably the coldest time in Finland, but Finns still are doing work and sport outside, just remember to wear warm clothes and you will be fine.
March and April are the months for spring. Sun starts staying up again for more hours and in few months its summer again.
